Meet Our EdTech Integration Coordinator

Gurney holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Communication and Electronic Engineering from UCSI University. He joined Sekolah Sri UCSI Kuala Lumpur (SSUKL) in December 2020, as one of the pioneers that worked closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure a smooth transition between on-campus and virtual learning. 

As the EdTech Coordinator of SSUKL, Gurney oversees the integration of technology into the curriculum of the school. He facilitated the trainings for Microsoft Office 365 apps (Teams, OneNote, Sway, etc.) and embedded them into digital learning. He also helped integrate Minecraft: Education Edition, Makecode Micro:bit, and Eduten Playground into the school’s curriculum. In February 2022, he was selected by Microsoft as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE), after demonstrating quality efforts and support for integrating in-class technology into Sri UCSI KL’s teaching structure.  

At SSUKL, teachers are preparing students for their technological future, and hence The EdTech Centre is established. It leverages technology to enhance effective teaching and learning. Gurney helps teachers to make use of the available tools in The EdTech Centre to bring technology into the lessons. He uses technology to pave the way for his peers for better learning and student outcomes.

As a teacher, Gurney teaches Mathematics, Physics, and Design & Technology at the secondary level. He is also a teacher advisor to the robotics club.
