Harshana is a first class graduate with Bachelor of Biotechnology (Hons). She was presented with the Dean’s and Chancellor List Award for Excellent Academic Achievement for three consecutive years. Approximately, she has nine years of teaching experience as a teacher and a tutor who has taught in both primary and secondary schools. Harshana also held diverse leadership roles including Head of Science Department and an ICAS Science coordinator. Before her appointment as the Senior Assistant ,Student Affairs and CCAs of Sri UCSI Kuala Lumpur, she was the Academics and Curriculum Coordinator of Sekolah Sri UCSI Springhill. She was also teaching Science and Biology. She will support the school through monitoring standards of learning to ensure the highest quality of provision and learning for all students.

She is very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching with the use of the 21st century teaching methods and techniques. Coming from a Science background, Harshana is well versed in laboratory technical skills. In addition to that, she has implemented a series of interactive hands-on activities based learning programmes, which has resulted in increased students’ interest in regular lessons. She actively participates in afterschool clubs and sports, volunteering as a school representative for community events, as well as organizing trips for the students. She successfully implemented a two-way communication among students, an initiative that encouraged students to take equal part during lesson impartation and class discussions.

Furthermore, she has implemented a mentoring programme with the students so that it develops students’ leadership skills where students will be able to develop strategies for dealing with both personal and academic issues, motivation to increase social and academic confidence. The wonder-filled eyes of students, when they are learning, is the driving force behind her passion for teaching.
