KUALA LUMPUR — UCSI Group and Chin Hin Group Property (CHGP) have signed an agreement to jointly develop UCSI International School and Sekolah Sri UCSI in Melaka, marking UCSI’s first school presence in the state.
The two schools will be housed in a purpose-built complex within CHGP’s approximately 19.3-acre integrated waterfront development at the Melaka Waterfront Economic Zone. The campus will accommodate up to 3,000 students, with boarding facilities for up to 300 students.
The project comes as Melaka continues to attract foreign investment and new residents, driving demand for quality international and private education.
UCSI Group founder and executive chairman Dato’ Peter Ng said the development responds to a gap in the state’s education landscape.
“For starters, there is only one sizable international school in the state, and with the state enjoying more FDI and continued growth, the demand for quality education will only grow.”
He said the partnership would give families access to more education choices while bringing UCSI’s established school offerings to Melaka.
“They deserve education options that will match the best schools in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor or Penang.”
The campus will feature an EdTech centre, performing arts facility and sports complex, with facilities planned for AI and robotics, digital media, innovation, music, theatre, swimming and a range of indoor and outdoor sports.
Chin Hin Group Bhd executive chairman Datuk Wira Chiau Haw Choon said the project is about creating something that will serve the community well beyond the opening of the schools.
“Together with UCSI, we have the opportunity to invite thousands of young people and families and hopefully generations to come.”
He added that the partnership also brings together complementary strengths from both organisations.
“UCSI brings education excellence, experience and purpose. Chin Hin will bring our talent, capability, speed and determination.”
The new schools will expand UCSI’s existing school network in Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya and Springhill.
UCSI Group is a Malaysian multi-industry company that operates across eight industry sectors: education, consulting, healthcare, hotels, food and beverage, properties, technology and automotive.
