The new curriculum known as KSSR Revised (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah Semakan) will be replacing the old curriculum (KSSR) starting in 2017. The aim of the new curriculum revised by MOE is to equip learners with the 21st Century skills with high order thinking skills, moulding leaders for tomorrow and the ability to use bilingual in their daily life. All these are to prepare the nation for global competition to succeed in the world today. Learners will follow the curriculum for six years from Primary One to Primary Six.<\/p><p>The aims of the primary level education are to equip learners with a strong foundation of language, science knowledge, mathematics skills and other supporting subjects that are in line with the goals of the National Philosophy of Education which seeks to optimise the intellectual, emotional and spiritual potential of pupils.<\/p><p>The increased proportion of Higher Thinking Order content in the curriculum as well as in the summative assessments has gradually brought about a shift from recalling in learning to critical thinking that will prepare the learners for global competition. At the Primary level, the Cambridge subjects taught are English, Mathematics and Science. At Primary 6, students will sit for the Cambridge Checkpoint exams which are set by the Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE). The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide us with an external international benchmark for our students\u2019 performance.
