Overview

UCSI Early Years Centre, Bandar Springhill is the place to provide a loving and encouraging environment that fosters learning and nurtures children between the ages of 18 months to 5 years, into future leaders.

At the Centre, we believe each child should receive quality care and developmentally appropriate education. Instead of restrictive rote learning, the Centre focuses on play as the foundation for future academic learning. Active thinking, investigating, experimenting as well as adult-guided instruction provides children with the opportunities to learn and function at their developmental age level.

About Us

As an Early Years Centre, we understand how the right start can take a child further in life. Our early childhood education focuses on making learning fun so that our students look forward to learning. We carefully designed our syllabus to balance classroom learning with life skills through games, outdoor activities and teamwork. Daily, our students engage in exploratory learning that blends both teacher-directed approach and child-directed approach.

We aim to not only deliver a balanced academic experience but also to create a learning environment that shapes children into well-rounded global citizens. We ensure that character development themes – such as cultural diversity, acceptance and cooperation, to name a few – are woven into our daily lessons and are ever-present. And in doing so, we create a cohesive classroom environment as well as promote healthy social and emotional development in children.

Nursery

We designed the Nursery Programme for children aged between 3 to 4 years old based on the understanding that the early formative years are the most critical in a child’s development. We built indoor classrooms and outdoor spaces to promote active learning as well as encourage different types of play. Our Early Years Centre provides various activities and stimulating environment which offers a range of safety equipment allowing the children to explore, discover, stimulate and experiment through sensory play.

We conduct our Nursery programme from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm (Monday – Friday). The programme is handled by fully-trained staff that are experienced in early years teaching as well as provide structured and fun activities for the children. When the children are ready to step forward into the next stage in their development, they will join the Reception.

Reception

Reception is suitable for children aged 4 – 5 years old. The children’s’ independent behaviour will start at this age of their life. Here at the Early Years Centre, we encourage and support the child’s self-help skills. Children will learn about routines, which will foster their language skills. Additionally, they will be able to concentrate more and through a diverse range of structured and unstructured learning activities, our teachers promote learning that is purposeful and enjoyable for children.

Our programme focuses on the primary areas of development. These include language, arts, literacy, mathematics, science, social and emotional development, gross and fine motor development, as well as character building. These are all part of the life skills your child will learn and build upon at the UCSI Early Years Centre, Bandar Springhill.

Our developmentally appropriate learning activities exemplifies our commitment to holistic education through a stimulating, challenging and creative environment. The classes are kept small (maximum 15 students) to facilitate individualised, classes and group teaching methods.

Foundation

Foundation is suitable for children aged 5-6 years old. It is a fun, play-based environment that encourages learning through experimenting, trial and error, watching, listening and participating. As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they feel ready to take on the world. Our Foundation curriculum enhances that confidence by providing activities to guide 4-year old children to become problem-solvers and develop a love of lifelong learning.

Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children develop a variety of skills and knowledge in areas like early literacy, mathematics, science, Mandarin and social skills.

UCSI Early Years Centre provides stimulating, challenging and accessible materials that are inviting and aesthetically pleasing to a child. This specially created environment entices the child to explore, discover, manipulate and learn. The resources and materials offered covers a broad curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, science, computer studies, music, arts and crafts, gardening, and physical activities.

A predictable yet flexible daily routine encourages children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn. It provides consistency and helps them gain a sense of security and confidence to participate in different parts of the programme.

Children are encouraged to develop their planning, implementing, decision-making, problem-solving and reflecting skills through the daily plan-do-review cycle of the programme. They also have the opportunity for individual, small and large group interactions through adult-initiated activities.

UCSI Early Years Centre offers a safe and secure environment for your child. In our programme, each child is appreciated and accepted at the level of their maturity and ability. The child is allowed to learn to grow and develop in a climate of genuine affection and warmth.
